vScaler Serves up Wimbledon

vScaler recently assisted in the delivery of live Wimbledon 2019 video content in partnership with network and connectivity partners BMC UK.

Utilising the vScaler platform to quickly deploy and provision resource across a global footprint, BMC can run their technology and share their expertise across geographies, giving them the ability to manage live broadcast events for multiple partners. vScaler also enables BMC UK with a safe and secure environment to host and deliver content, with the performance and the high quality that is expected.

A key part of the challenge of delivering live content like Wimbledon 2019, is the need to move the massive amounts of data from the content source to the BBC’s production centres. BMC UK employed a novel approach for its delivery method, using little to no compression. BMC UK successfully engineered  a solution that took the latest, high bandwidth, fibre products and combined them with the latest studio techniques and standards, transporting uncompressed HD signals, and lightly compressed UHD signals, with maximum simplicity and premium reliability.

The solution was delivered in partnership with vScaler, which enables Broadcast and Media companies to transition to IP-based infrastructures, either as a physical appliance, as a cloud-based service, or as both in a hybrid model. vScaler helps Broadcast & Media organisations to maintain a dedicated control centre for operations, while their infrastructure can exist anywhere in the world.
